Banana Cake and Banana Bread are actually very similar. Banana Cake may be baked in a round or square tin, whereas Banana Bread is usually baked in a loaf pan.
Banana Cake may also be baked in two layers and then a layer of filling inserted between the two layers.
Banana Cake may also sometimes be unleavened, whereas Banana Bread is usually always leavened.

Banana Cake With Cream Cheese Topping
This recipe makes a very moist banana cake with a delicious cream cheese topping!
INGREDIENTS
* 2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
* 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
* 1/2 cup butter
* 1 1/2 cups sugar
* 2 large eggs
* 3 mashed bananas
* 1/2 cup milk
* 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
TOPPING INGREDIENTS
* 1/2 stick softened butter
* 8 oz softened cream cheese
* 1 pound powdered sugar
* 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly grease and flour a 9×13″ baking pan or two 9″ layer cake pans.
2. Mix together the flour, baking powder and baking soda.
3. Cream together the butter, sugar and eggs. Add the milk and mix well.
4. Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet mixture and mix thoroughly.
5. Add in the vanilla and mashed bananas.
6. Pour mixture into pan and bake 9″ layer cakes for 25-30 minutes or 9×13″ baking pan for 35-40 minutes.
TOPPING DIRECTIONS
1. Mix the cream cheese and butter together until smooth.
2. Add in the sugar and vanilla and mix well.
3. Spread the topping on the cooled cake.
